Too Many Islands = No Community
If you want to rebuild the community aspect of Xanga, you probably need to take the followers lock off your privacy setting. I get the need, trust me, I of all people do. But we can't connect with each other the way this is right now if we freeze our borders. Too many of you are on this lock. You have another option, where only Xanga community members can view your blog.
If you want a community, open your site until it is rebuilt.
But if you want an island? Keep your locks tight.

Yeah, I know that some people are confused about how to protect themselves and make things private. But what people don't know is that right now, Xanga is really kind of hidden away. No new sign ups. Nothing but basic features. Even the most simple, familiar actions (like replying, following, etc) are still being worked out.
If anything, now would be the time to make yourself available and open while the site is still getting its footing. Hmm... maybe I'll write a post about this.

LOL! No, it isn't my dog. I'd never do that to any animal, it's kind of ridiculous. Hahaha!
We just moved here to coastal NC on military orders this summer, my husband is in the Coast Guard. I'm ready for fall, we spent the last four yrs in hot-as-hell Texas where there was only one season: sweat.
I also took off the comment moderation. It just log jams the comments, assuming I get any.
